Though Ngong Ping 360 skyrail, between Tung Chung and Ngong Ping on Lantau Island, is scheduled to open soon, seems there are some environmental problems to fix.

Former member of the project’s Sustainable Advisory Board Paul Melsom has written to Legislative Council re concerns, including on potential for hillfires, especially since people could toss cigarettes from the cable cars. This issue has been mentioned in the press; but as yet, seems no solution found.

Info from Paul is on Legco site, at:

Not wanting to state the obvious, but what about a complete no smoking ban?
Including terminal and inside bubble cars, with NO OPTION to open windows. Install smoke alarms and heavy penalties. Are there cooling fans in the cars?
Perhaps we should also consider the amount of vomit being hurled what with the swaying in the strong winds etc. I’ve seen tourists go green (not the conservation type) on the bus ride from Mui Wo to Tai O..imagine a xx minute ride on a gyrating car.
